Richard McDade
Short cut &
color specialist
Richard McDade, aka @badlyshavedape, is a third-generation hairstylist, Paul Mitchell National Educator, and the reluctant yet proud elder millennial tasked with managing a wildly talented team of Gen Z stylists at Magnolia Avenue Salon. Born into the industry (literally—his first rattle might’ve been a spray bottle), Richard brings legacy, skill, and a lot of dry humor to everything he does behind the chair and beyond it.
With years of hands-on experience and top-tier training from some of the most respected names in the industry, Richard has built a reputation for precision haircutting, seamless color, and honest consultations that skip the fluff and get straight to the transformation. His education background fuels his passion for growth—not just his own, but the whole team’s. He ensures the crew at Magnolia is constantly leveling up, even if it means explaining what “cheugy” means while organizing hands-on training.
As a Paul Mitchell National Educator, Richard supports ongoing stylist education while also empowering guests with real-world, at-home styling knowledge—because what’s the point of a great haircut if it only looks good when someone else does it for you?
Over the years, Richard’s technical skill, leadership, and no-nonsense approach have made him one of the most sought-after barber/stylists in Fort Worth, Texas. And while his chair may not be for the overly sensitive, it is for anyone ready to look sharp, feel sharper, and maybe get lovingly roasted in the process.
Outside the salon, Richard is a devoted husband and proud dad to his two amazing kids, Oliver and Quinn. When he’s not cutting hair or leading his team, you’ll find him wrenching on ’67 Ford Galaxie, lifting heavy things, or watching movies with his wife Amy. With over 92K TikTok followers tuning in for expert tips and blunt truths, Richard proves that great hair and great leadership—comes with a little grit and a lot of authenticity.
